Yesterday, seemingly innocent envelopes were delivered to representatives at the LDS temples in Salt Lake City and Los Angeles, the two most heavily protest locations since the passage of Proposition 8 in California. These envelopes were filled with a white powder that was apparently harmless, but required hazmat teams to shut down the locations.
So now we are again seeing the true colors of the far-left liberals. They love to preach tolerance and openness, kindness and peace. But they do not believe in these things, they talk like pacifists but act like militant marxists, or dare I say Stalinists.
So what did the Mormons do to deserve the treatment they are getting? They actively supported a bill that defined marriage between a man and a woman. Nevermind that this bill only affected what the word “marriage” referred to. The bill does not call for any rights to be taken away or any unequal treatment. It just stipulates that marriage is between a man and a woman. In fact the church supports equal rights under the law for gay couples when entered into civil unions. The church agrees that they should be privy to the same tax benefits and other entitlements that married couples receive. So while gay and lesbian couples really lose no rights whatsoever, those who profess tolerance and openness are threatening the church with anthrax scares, defacing church property, threatening LDS members, etc. What a bunch of hypocrits. Liberals are only keen on freedom of speech and tolerance when it benefits them or people sensitive to their opinions. They need to grow up and act like adults instead of like a bunch of babies. The fact anyone takes those groups seriously is a joke.
I don't condone terrorism, even these types of silly maneuvers....but that being said the mormons had it coming. did they really think there wouldn't be backlash?
Keep your religion out of peoples rights to live their lives however they want.
It is also interesting that the Mormons are really the only group getting such treatment. Sure there have been a few isolated incidents against Catholics, but by and large the Mormons have received the ”punishment”. Why aren’t the ”tolerant” libs targeting the Mormons also trashing evangelicals, Catholics, Blacks, or Hispanics? It is because Mormons are an easy target and the libs face no real political backlash. Those people are spineless hypocrits who in no way espouse unity, peace, or tolerance despite what their words are. They call for tolerance and peace with a stone and club in hand ready to attack.
Finally Michael, you say ”Keep your religion out of peoples rights to live their lives however they want.”
Would you then advocate polygamy? would you support the FLDS folks in Texas, Utah, and Colorado? (excepting of course the allegations of child abuse)? Would you support a middle-aged never married woman who lives with her cat to choose to legally marry her cat if she wanted?
The fact is, a society has the right and obligation to determine moral standards for the society in which they live. Each society will have differing levels of tolerance, but they do have the right at setting limits. The question we constantly face is ”where are our limits”. 100 years ago, it was much more strict than today. But it appears that our society is not yet ready to recognize marriage between a man and a man. That is the right of society to dictate that, whether you like it or not. And all of that is outside the religion argument. Live and let live without any bounds on moral standards or activities will eventually lead to chaos and anarchy. Would gay marriage lead to that? No, not at all. But it is one more step down a slippery slope.
Finally, I find it interesting that we give so much credence to liberal groups and gay and lesbian groups with little criticism, yet are so quick to trash and dismiss religous organizations as kooks. What makes the lib groups more relevant or right? There is hypocricy all around.
Registering same sex couples just benefits government coffins, as singles are getting more in social services and insurances.
At the end of the day if no reproduction targeted, copulating just a time-passing-by act only.
